A former PCSO accused of abusing his position for ‘sexual purposes’ will appear at Hull Magistrates’s Court tomorrow (Thursday).
Simon Smith faces charges of with misconduct in public office and attempting to pervert the course of justice following an investigation carried out by Humberside Police and managed by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
Mr Smith was a PCSO with Humberside Police and was based in Goole at the time the offences were allegedly committed.
A spokesman for the IOPC said: “Allegations Simon Smith, 48, was abusing his position for a sexual purpose were referred to us by the force and the resulting investigation looked at his contact with members of the public while working for Humberside Police.
“Upon conclusion of the investigation, we directed the force to refer the matter to the Crown Prosecution Service, which authorised three charges of misconduct in public office and one of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
“Mr Smith, who was based in Goole, is due to appear at Hull Magistrates’ Court on February 24.”
